Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital officially opened its first smart hospital ward in Korea this month. It was established after a pilot operation period from December through a national project to build a smart hospital ward last year. According to the hospital, the smart ward system was applied to 10 wards and 25 beds.
In particular, in the smart hospital room, functions such as checking test results through EMR (medical information system), remote medical consultation with medical staff, patient-centered schedule management, ward control through voice recognition and emergency calls through voice recognition became possible. In the single room, it allows patients to use the smart room system with an 52-inch smart TV opposite to the bed, and as for the 4-bedded room, bed-side station tablet can be used. In addition, you can use a smart monitor with touch, remote control, and voice recognition methods.
Director Seong Ho Lee of Dongtan Hospital said, “Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital has built a true smart hospital ward that allows checking of test results, remote consultation with medical staff, and patient-centered schedule management even within the ward for inpatients with disabilities.” He also added, “With the establishment of these new smart hospital wards, it is possible to go beyond the concept of a smart hospital that has led changes centered on improving the convenience of existing medical staff, and to become a smarter hospital that prioritizes patient treatment and convenience.”
