No.6923 Date2021-05-31 Hit 20719

Hallym Institute for Medical Simulation (HIMS) at Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital conducted Korean Trauma Assessment and Treatment (KTAT) for two days from May 27 to 28.

Organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the National Emergency Medical Center and hosted by the Korean Association of Resuscitation in Trauma, KTAT is the only trauma treatment education program focusing on improving the nation's trauma treatment environment. It is designed for emergency doctors who are specialized in severe trauma, traumatologists, and duty doctors to help them provide advanced life support for trauma patients in the early stage.

In this training, various education and practices were conducted for the treatment of trauma patients such as medical treatment of traumatic shock, fluid resuscitation, surgical airway management, chest tube insertion and needle chest decompression, pericardiocentesis and intraosseous infusion and reading of head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis. 24 residents from 15 major hospitals in Korea attended the training as trainees under the guidance of about 10 specialists in Emergency Medicine including Choung Ah Lee, Hang A Park, and Ho Young Yune of Dongtan hospital.

“We tried to create an environment and situation almost identical to the actual clinical scene by using our center’s state-of-the-art simulators,” said Director Kyung Ho Park of Dongtan’s Simulation Center. “I hope that this training has helped the medical staff responsible for severe trauma treatment to upgrade their skills, and that it will contribute to reducing preventable death of trauma patients,” he added.
