No.5763 Date2018-05-14 Hit 29592

Dr. Keun-Young Lee of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hallym University Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital gave a lecture at 'The 70th Annual Congress of the Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology' in Sendai, Japan on May 12, 2018.

The Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology holds annual symposiums, where experts in various fields such as maternal-fetal medicine, gynecologic oncology, reproductive endocrinology, and general gynecology join and share their knowledge. Last year, Dr. Lee gave a lecture on treatment of cervical incompetence at the 69th annual congress held in Hiroshima.

The congress this time lasted for three days from May 11 to May 13. On May 12, Dr. Lee shared his experience on 'Prevention of Preterm Birth; Cerclage vs Progesterone.' There are two primary ways to prevent preterm birth: progesterone therapy and cervical cerclage. Both ways are highly controversial in the world, because both methods are yet to be standardized. On May 11, Ms. Whang, resident at Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital, presented on 'Successful Heterotopic Pregnancy with Prior Radical Trachelectomy after TCIC with MTX Treatment.'

Dr. Lee, who is considered one of the world's leading authorities on cervical incompetence, has performed the cervical cerclage procedure over 4,000 times. He has also published a number of papers in world-renowned journals such as 'American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology.' He's continuously contributing to proving the excellence of Korea's medical technology to the world by sharing the expert knowledge on cervical incompetence, cervical cerclage, and ultrasonographic diagnosis of cervical incompetence at many institutions and annual meetings including Cornell University in the U.S., European Congress of Perinatal Medicine, Annual Congress of the Japan Society of Perinatal and Neonatal Medicine, Asia Pacific Congress in Maternal Fetal Medicine, Asia and Oceania Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecology Congress, and World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology Congress.
