Dr. Sang Kyu Lee wins ‘Best Paper of Session’ at KAAP Autumn Meeting

Dr. Sang Kyu Lee of Psychiatry at Hallym University Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital won the ‘Best Paper of Session’ at the 2017 autumn meeting of the Korea Academy of Addiction Psychiatry(KAAP) held at the National Center for Mental Health on November 17, 2017.
The award winning thesis titled “Co-Occurrence and Associations among Five Different Types of Addiction in Korean Adults” was co-authored by Dr. Lee, Dr. Serae Kim of Chuncheon National Hospital, and Chuncheon Addiction Management Center, and was published in the Journal of Korean Academy of Addiction Psychiatry in September.
Through this research, Dr. Lee announced that addictions such as alcohol, nicotine, gambling, internet, and smartphone addiction can be a cause of another forms of addiction. The research also suggested that coexisting addictive disorder is more common in men as compared to women, and people in their 20s are especially vulnerable to that disorder.
