Hallym-Nagoya City University International Symposium was successfully held at Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital on November 30, 2017.
The symposium attracted nearly 100 participants, including 20 prominent speakers from various departments who joined the meeting to share their expert knowledge. In particular, the presence of Dean Makoto Michikawa and Vice Dean Masumi Suzui of Nagoya City University dignified the event.
Distinguished speakers from Nagoya City University including Dr. Tomonory Sugiura, Dr. Masashi Shimohira, Dr. Shoko Mase, Dr. Hitomi Tsuiji, Dr. Mitsuharu Okutsu, Dr. Rikuya Hosokawa, and Dr. Kaoru Amano presented their experience in their own field.
The symposium was comprised of four sessions with 20 lectures. The first session covered ‘The emerging role of Zinc in the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis’, ‘TDP-43 accelerates age-dependent degeneration of interneurons’, ‘Effect of phloroglucinol derivatives on beta-amyloid production: Implications for alzheimer's disease’, ‘Muscle contractile activity regulates SDF-1α/CXCL12 expression in skeletal muscle’, ‘Citrullinated myelin basic protein in disease pathogenesis’, ‘A smartphone application to educate undergraduate nursing students about providing care for infant airway obstruction’, ‘Marital relationship, parenting practices, and social skills development in preschool children’, ‘Developing early discharge protocol after cardiac surgery using korean advanced practice nursing: A randomized clinical trial’, ‘Exploring care for patients undergoing cancer treatment during the downward phase of the illness trajectory’, and ‘Predictive Nursing for Patient Safety Based on Big Data Analysis’.
Next, there was a poster session. During this session, attendees walked through the conference room, browsed through various poster sessions of interest, and discussed each storyboard.
After lunch, the third session began. In this session, speakers presented on ‘Noch signaling activation is related to the survival of epithelial ovarian cancer’, ‘Inactivation of ZNF671 by DNA methylation is closely associated with early recurrence of serous ovarian cancer’, ‘Lipoprotein a [Lp (a)], unique risk factor of cardiovascular disease’, ‘Serum levels of Mac-2 binding protein increase with cardiovascular risk and reflect silent atherosclerosis’, and ‘Temporal trends of de NOVO malignancy after heart transplantation’.
The participants had a short coffee break, and then the fourth session began. This last session dealt with presentations on ‘Biliary stone removal through the percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage route, focusing on balloon sphincteroplasty flushing technique’, ‘Coil embolization for pulmonary arteriovenous malformations: experience with hydrogel-coated coils’, ‘Angiographic results of wide-necked intracranial aneurysms treated with coil embolization: a single center experience’, ‘Association of SOX17 gene polymorphism and intracranial aneurysm: A case-control study and meta-analysis’, and ‘Chronological changes in tip cells during sprouting angiogenesis of development of the retinal vasculature in newborn mice’.
