Hangang trains 40 doctors from ASEAN countries on burn treatment

Hallym Burn Foundation and Hallym University Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital held an invitational workshop from October 5 to 12, 2016. With the purpose of strengthening the national burn disaster management system, Hallym invited 40 burn care specialists from 10 countries in ASEAN countries including Laos, Malaysia, and Myanmar.
Seventeen medical personnel of Hangang hospital joined this capacity build-up program as lecturers. After the hospital introduction by Director Wook Chun, lectures on burn treatment were followed. Dr. Jun Hur of Burn Surgery presented on ‘Operative Wound Management,’ Dr. Cheong Hoon Seo of Rehabilitation Medicine introduced ‘Burn Injury Rehabilitation,’ and Dr. Boung Chul Lee of Psychiatry explained ‘Burn Related Mental Disorders.’ Participants were satisfied with training program at the departments of Burn Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and Rehabilitation Medicine after the lectures.
After the workshop, trainees went on a tour to Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital, the newest hospital of Hallym University Medical Center(HUMC). They visited International Healthcare Center, Digestive Disease Center, Emergency Medical Center, Department of Radiology, Physical Therapy Room, general ward and ICUs. They could learn Hallym’s advanced medical system and the systematic service for foreign patients.
During the invitational workshop period, the MOU signing ceremony was held on October 10. Hallym University Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital and the 22 hospitals that joined the workshop agreed to work closely on the development of burn treatment skills.
