Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital joined the Retiree Appreciation Day in the Osan Air Base of U.S. Air Force on February 4, 2016 to provide medical support. The event was co-organized by the hospital and Osan Air Base and Dongtan hospital dispatched a medical support team which consisted of a doctor, 4 nurses, 7 administrative officers and a physical therapist.
The medical support team provided the 50 veterans with systematic medical services such as blood glucose and pressure check, body composition analysis, carotid sonography, and health consultations. After that, a short break with refreshments followed. Most veterans who participated in the event were in their 60s and 70s with mobility problems, so their participation was more meaningful.
Mr. Ernest Lee, the representative of the veterans said, “In the beginning of the year, we had a survey asking what kind of event the veterans would want to have. Most of them wanted to have health checkups. I am really grateful to the members of Dongtan hospital for helping us to know our health status.” Meanwhile, Manager Mija Park of International Healthcare Team of Dongtan hospital, said, “I am very pleased to join this meaningful event. I will actively engage in various events to promote our relationship.”
Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital inked a memorandum of understanding with the medical group of U.S. Forces Korea(USFK) in 2013. Since then, Dongtan hospital has been providing the best medical services to USFK and their families including shuttle bus service twice a day from the hospital to Camp Humphreys and Osan Air Base. It is maintaining close relationship with USFK by inviting U.S. military officials every year and introducing its cutting-edge medical facilities that foreign patients can use.
