Hallym University Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital

Ms. Gyong Ae Choi, manager of social work department at Hallym University Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital won the Minister’s award by the Ministry of Health and Welfare on March 3.

The award was given to her in recognition for successfully easing burden of patient’s medical fees by skillfully adopting a government-initiated catastrophic medical expenditure protection program.

Introduced by the Ministry of Welfare in 2013, the protection program is designed to aid low-income households facing “catastrophic medical expenses” and to protect them from going bankrupt due to excessive spending on medical bills.
