Michigan State University delegation meets with HUMC leadership

A delegation of Michigan State University visited Hallym University Medical Center to expand international exchanges with HUMC on February 22, 2014.


A two-member delegation led by Professor Reza Nassiri, Associate Dean of Global Health & Director of Institute of International Health and Mr. Sung Soo Chung, Assistant Director of Institute of International Health met with Yong-Sun Kim, Executive Vice President for Health & Biomedical Sciences and exchanged ideas for seeking student training exchanges and possibly starting trilateral exchanges with Hallym University, Michigan State University and Nagasaki University in the future. Both Hallym University and Michigan State University have signed an affiliation agreement with Nagasaki University.



Followed by a brief presentation of HUMC, the delegation observed Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital and flagship Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital to observe HUMC’s latest medical facilities.


Professor Nassiri said Michigan State University wants to invite Hallym University medical students as this will help students better understand global health and allow them to expose to an English-speaking environment in the U.S.


Seeking with exchanges with outstanding medical students at Korea’s leading medical institution will not only benefit two parties but also greatly help to shape a better world, Professor Nassiri said.



Established in 1855, Michigan State University is known for providing excellent training program for international students. A research based university with 42 affiliate teaching hospitals, ranks in the 1st in toxicology, 4th in pharmacology and 6th in health medicine in U.S.
