Dr. Charles L. Bardes, an associate dean of admission at Weill Cornell Medical College, visited Korea from June 8 to 11 to speak for seminars on the Admission Officer System(AOS) organized by Hallym University and Hallym University of Graduate Studies(HUGS).
He gave lectures on the role of admission officers in the U.S. and criteria for admission of qualified students on June 9 and 10 at HUGS. The event ended with a great success while many of admission officers of Korean universities, students and parents who were highly interested in studying in foreign countries were in attendance. On June 9, he was interviewed by the Herald Media, one of economic dailies in Seoul, with Dr. Yong-Sun Kim, Executive Vice President for Health and Biomedical Sciences at Hallym University.
He visited Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital on June 10, and met Dr. Hae-Ran Lee, President of Hallym University Medical Center, and other faculty members. They shared their opinions on the future mutual cooperation between Hallym and Cornell, and toured around the hospital.
President Lee said in her welcome remarks, “I really appreciate your lecture on the advanced admission system of Cornell yesterday. I believe it would be greatly helpful for us to adapt the new admission properly in the Korean universities. I look forward to ever-closer friendship with Cornell in the years to come.”
Meanwhile, Hallym has worked on a number of international programs with Cornell, sharing medical knowledge and clinical experiences since 2004 when Hallym signed an affiliation agreement with Weill Cornell Medical College, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP).
