Hallym Inks Cooperation Pact with Oulu University

Hallym University College of Medicine concluded an affiliation agreement on September 23, with the University of Oulu in Finland, one of the best universities in Europe.
A signing ceremony for the affiliation agreement between Hallym University College of Medicine and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Oulu was held at Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital (HUSHH). At the ceremony, representatives of both universities, Dr. Markku Savolainen, dean of faculty of medicine, University of Oulu, and Dr. Moon-Gi Choi, dean of Hallym University College of Medicine concluded the affiliation agreement and discussed ways to further collaborative research and faculty exchange.
Before the new partnership of two medical schools was concluded, Dr. Young-Sun Lee, President of Hallym University, met Dr. Savolainen on September 22 to sign an affiliation agreement at the university level on collaborative research, international symposiums, and faculty and student exchange programs.
This partnership is the first of its kind that was established by a European medical institution and Hallym which has been working to beef up its international competence through affiliations with Columbia and Cornell University of the U.S. since 2002.
With the new affiliation, Hallym plans to promote international relations with distinguished universities in Europe that are the leaders of translational medicine which is connecting basic and clinical medicine. Hallym University College of Medicine and Hallym University Medical Center are now seeking to establish international relations with Helsinki University in Finland, and Uppsala University and Karolinska Institute in Sweden. As a result of these efforts, the 1st Hallym-Uppsala international symposium will be held to deal with a topic, ‘Current Issues in Medicine and Surgery' on October 9 in Seoul.
